BEVERLY - Mr. Louis Bochynski, 94, of Beverly, beloved husband of the late Angela (Grasso) Bochynski, passed away peacefully, November 1, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by his family. Born in Salem he was the son of the late Stanislaw and Rozalia (Furtak) Bochynski. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School Class of 1942. An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Bochynski proudly served his country as a member of the Navy Armed Guard as a Gunners Mate Third Class during W W II. Bo was very proud of his service to his country and was awarded several medals and commendations for his brave service including the WW II Victory Medal, the Philippine Liberations Medal, the American Theatre Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. Upon his return from the service, Bo began a long career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier, a job he excelled at for over 30 years. He took great pride in the fact he knew most everyone on his route, including the dogs that would join him for a walk. He was known for his strong work ethic at a time in our history where the mail was always delivered, mostly on foot. He was never in a hurry and would always take the time to say hello, chat, or share a quick joke. He was more ambassador than letter carrier and relished the camaraderie of the folks he work with and served. Following his retirement from the Postal Service, Bo joined the team at The O'Donnell Funeral Home in Salem, where he was an integral part of the company for over 40 years and remained a valued friend and mentor until the time of his passing. A true gentleman at heart, Bo was always there to lend a hand and give support where needed; his kindness was always his hallmark. Bo was dedicated to his country and the postal service; however he was most devoted to his family. He was steadfast in his love for them and was truly proud of his children's and grandchildren's many accomplishments. Along with his wife, he enjoyed maintaining a warm and loving home and tending to the garden and lawn. Always proud of his Polish heritage, Bo mastered the accordion so he could play his beloved polkas, which he would do at family gatherings. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He will be fondly remembered as a hard-working man with a good heart, a mischievous smile, and dry wry sense of humor and will be deeply missed by his family, many friends and the many lives he touched along the way. Surviving Bo are his sons, Kevin Bochynski and his wife Pegge of Beverly and Louis Bochynski Jr. of Danvers; his granddaughters, Karen Rollins of Ipswich and Debra Brown of Alabaster, AL; his grandsons, Richard Bochynski and Matthew Bochynski both of Beverly, and Nicholas Bochynski of Omaha, NB; and his great-grandchildren, Alex, Kyle and Jason Rollins, Sarah Grace Brown, Richard Bochynski III, Belle Bochynski, and Eli Bochynski; and his daughters-in-law, Diane Bochynski and Nancy Bochynski. He was also the father of the late Richard "Dick" Bochynski and brother of the late John and Theodore Bochynski. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers on Saturday, November 16th at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial is private. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9 to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Bo's memory to a charity of one's choice. To Kevin and Pegge. My sympathy to you and your family for the loss of your father. Your Dad was my mailman when I was a child living on Dodge St in North Beverly. I will always remember him delivering our mail along with a German Shepard dog that accompanied him. Your Dad always was whistling when he came to the door. He taught me how to whistle. This is one of my childhood memories that your Dad gave me. May you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.
With sympathy,
Cathy Jankowski

I always called him my Uncle Bo, even though we were not related, My folks were good friends with Bo and Angie and we always did things as a family when I was growing up. I have so many wonderful memories that I will always cherish.
