Lowell McDysan passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 in Loudoun County Hospital due to congestive heart failure. His second wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death. Mr. McDysan was born in Beloit, Kansas in 1928, grew up on a working farm there and graduated from Beloit High School in 1946. He served in the United States Air Force for four years starting in 1946 and was deployed as a meteorologist in air bases in the Pacific in support of the Korean War. He graduated from Kansas University with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. in 1954. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for over three decades followed by an appliance consultant position at Sears. He resided in Kansas City, Kansas; Minneapolis, Minnesota, and lived in the Washington DC area for over four decades before his passing. After retirement from the FAA, he and Dorothy embarked upon world travels beginning in 1982. Their travels encompassed 157 countries, 15 cruises covering the seven seas, and visits to all seven continents. He had an excellent memory and frequently shared his experiences and lessons learned from his extensive travels. Surviving family members are: his son David; daughter Kathryn; daughter Cheryl, ex-wife Martha, sister Leona, sister Louise, sister Lorna, sister Lois, sister Lucille, and brother Lawrence. Many friends and neighbors, including the friends he made during the last two years of his life at Sunrise Countryside in Sterling, Virginia, also shared in his life experiences. His wish was to be cremated and interred at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Lowell's memory.
