Luigi Molettieri, 78 a longtime resident of Wakefield died at his home Friday February 5. Born in Castelfranci, Italy on March 25, 1931 he was the son of the late Pasquale and Maria (Ciullo) Molettieri. Luigi was raised in Italy. He learned the art of Tailoring and at the age of 19 opened his first shop in Italy. Luigi had a passion for music which started at a young age. He mastered the clarinet and the accordion. In Italy he performed in local bands playing Italian Folksongs. In 1958 at the age of 27 he moved to Montreal, Quebec and married Maria Moretto. In 1966 he moved his family to Wakefield to pursue his American dream. He opened up Luigi's Tailor Shop in Reading, where he served the community until his retirement in 2007. He was known far and wide for his talent with a needle and thread. Luigi's passion for music continued and he played for various friends and family members. Luigi is survived by his wife Maria F. (Moretto) Molettieri, 2 daughters, Maria and Rosa Molettieri of Wakefield, his son, Gino Molettieri and his wife Anna of Reading, a brother Mario Molettieri of Wakefield and a sister Eva Giannattasio of Italy. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, Isabel, Lydia, and Ethan, many brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews in Montreal and Italy. The funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday 4-8pm. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
