Mark E. Merdinyan

Mark E.Merdinyan, 61, of Stony Lane, went to be with his Lord on Saturday May 8, 2010 in the South County Hospital, Wakefield. He was the husband of Sandra L. (Leonhardt) Merdinyan. A lifelong resident of North Kingstown, he was born in Providence a son of the late Edward F. and Gladys (Buchanan) Merdinyan. Mr. Merdinyan had been a commercial fisherman for many years until his retirement in 1993 due to illness, operating his own lobster boat known as the "Glad One". He taught at the University of Rhode Island in the Commercial Fisherman Department for several years and was the owner of Marine Education Associates where he taught commercial fishing. He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Rhode Island. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Andrew M. Merdinyan of North Kingstown and a daughter Alicia L. Hedenberg and her husband Richard of North Kingstown. Funeral Service Tuesday May 11, 2010 at 3 PM in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick, RI.
