Phillip Ashadina Obituary

Published by Mehl's Colonial Chapel on Sep. 30, 2016.
Our dear Phillip Ashadina went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ and his Heavenly Father. He left us on Friday, September 30th at Dominican Hospital after a prolonged battle with 3 types of cancer. He was 76 years old. He was born in Watsonville, California to Bud and Gladys Ashadina. He devoted much of his time caring for his father, mother, aunt and other relatives making sure they died while in the care of loving family. Phil was a skilled journeyman plumber and maintenance foreman serving the naval facilities in California and in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for 2.5 years where he also served as a branch president in his church. He is survived by his wife Sharon, two daughters Julie and Kelly and her husband Allen Steele, and his son Phillip Jr. He was very proud of his children and loved them very much. And he had three special grandchildren, Kandace, Amanda, and Elena. He was sealed to his wife and children in 1976. Phil also leaves his best friend, Jim (Doris) Baker, and many other special people in life, including the Cardoza and Buffenmyers families, Judith Dowler and Mitch Welch. He loved going fishing with his son, Phillip Jr. Some of our favorite memories were visits to Disneyland. He told us how he used to hang out with the mouseketeers in 1955 when the park fist opened. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 11 at 1:30 PM at Valley Public Cemetery. Mehl's Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
