Phillip L. Golyar

Phillip L. Golyar, 73, of Battle Creek, died Friday, June 26, 2015 at home. He was born February 7, 1942 in Battle Creek to George and Mary (Spaulding) Golyar. Phillip attended Lakeview High School and later attended Kellogg Community College, Western Michigan University and Masters in Education from Michigan State University. He served in the U. S. Army from 1960 to 1962. Phillip worked for Fisher Body, Post Cereals and at the Battle Creek Federal Center. He also owned a restaurant and carpet cleaning business in Battle Creek. He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, biking, swimming and reading books. Surviving are son Eric P. Golyar of Battle Creek and three grandchildren; brother-in-law Jack Cox and half-brother John Golyar of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents. and sister, Sharon Smith. Committal services with military honors will take place, 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2015 at Fort Custer National Cemetery officiating.
