Rick was an amazing friend and colleague. Serving with 50 Peace Corps volunteers in post-Soviet Russia, Rick was quick with wit or sage advice. Respected among his peers, many stories of his character and kindness or silly comments have been passed around the internet this past week as we mourn and try to make sense of his early departure. Rick was someone special to our group, but he made us all aware of how much more special his precious daughter Emma was in his eyes. We mourn your loss dear Emma and wish you bright memories of your daddy's love. We wish his entire family peace and comfort and God's blessings as you navigate this unchartered road. May God Bless and keep you all. Goodbye, dear friend.

I had the honor of serving as a member of the first US Peace Corps volunteers to Russia with Rick. We had just Skyped at the beginning of April about visiting and meeting his incredible daughter.
Rick brought us all join and resolute with character.
In good memory, thoughts and condolences to his family.
