Robert D. "Bob" Shalala

Robert D. "Bob" Shalala passed away July 24, 2017 at the age of 76. Bob was the loving and beloved husband of Bonnie (nee King) Shalala. He was the dear father of Pam (George) Conroy, Dan (Amy) Shalala, Trish (Joe) Keyser, and Peggy (Drew) O'Neill; loving Jiddu of Daniel and Kylie Shalala, dear grandfather of 5 grandchildren; dear brother of Roger Shalala; loving uncle of Susan (Jon) Curry, Miranda and Zachary Curry, and David Shalala. Bob served the Philadelphia Police Department for 38 years before retiring. He was a 50 year member of FOP Lodge 5. Bob served his country in the U.S. NAVY from 1962-1966. Bob was a member of Houseman Lodge No. 211 F&AM, the Northeast Shrine Club where, he served as president in 1988, was a member of Richard White Memorial American Legion Post #925. Bob proudly served the Pennsylvania American Legion as Department Commander in 2004. Relatives and friends are invited to Bob's Life Celebration at John F. Givnish of Academy Road, 10975 Academy Road, Philadelphia, Pa 19154 on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 6-9 PM, a Masonic service will take place at 8 PM, and Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 9-10AM, promptly followed by his funeral service at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's honor may be made the VA Hospice unit, VA Medical Center- Voluntary Services, 3900 Woodland Ave, Philadelphia, Pa 19104.
