Robert Charlevoix Obituary

Robert M. "Bobby" Charlevoix, 83, of Wakefield, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, Wis. He was born on March 6, 1928, in Detroit, son of the late Stephen and Margaret (Murray) Charlevoix. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations from 1945-49. He married the former LeeAnn Bay on June 27, 1958, in Eagle River, Wis. and she preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 1976. Robert retired from the White Pine Mine where he worked as a welder for many years. He was a member of the Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed hunting, spending time at camp and was a talented wood carver. He is survived by his son, Matthew Charlevoix of Colorado; his daughter, Jill Charlevoix of Ironwood; grandsons, Benjamin and Patrick Kapugia of Bessemer; a brother, Stephen (Marilyn) Charlevoix of Foster City; brother-in-law, Patrick Milligan and sister-in-law, Alice Charlevoix. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Charlevoix, and two sisters, Kay Ann Karl and Janice Milligan. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Memorial services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Father Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery. Condolences to the family of Robert "Bobby" Charlevoix may be expressed online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com. The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.
