I was a fraternity brother of Bob's at the University of Detroit back in the early 60's. In fact, he was my "little brother" when he pledged the frat. Together we had some fun times in college. After graduation, I lost track of him for several years but he tracked me down here in San Diego, CA, and through the subsequent years we communicated constantly by email. Bob remained single for much of his life until he met Mary. When he informed me of his impending marriage, I knew this was an event I just couldn't miss. So, I flew back to the Detroit area and I was witness to something I and many others thought would never happen. It was a grand and glorious day. I think this was the happiest time in his life. In the following years, Bob and Mary travelled a lot. A couple of times, they stopped off here in San Diego either coming or going from some exotic location. I visited with them back there around 2009 or '10. I last saw Bob and Mary in May of this year at the facility where he was staying. It was so sad to see him in his illness. However, near the end of my visit, I truly believe he did recognize me and he reached out his hand and gave me a warm and strong handshake. Alas, his passing is leaves me with only pleasant memories of our times. Rest in peace, good buddy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob when he moved into the Assisting Living facility where I was working and he was one of the most pleasant, kind and loving men I ever had to take care of. His sense of humor was endless and his love for Mary was priceless!!!! I know he is surely in a better place with no more pain. God has definitely received a Beautiful Angel. RIP Uncle Bob.... I will love you always!!!!!
Mary....you are a strong and kind woman and anyone who knows you knew the love and admiration you have for Bob. Always in my deepest prayers and my condolences to you. Hold tight to your many many memories and remain strong. Love you dearly!!!!!!

Having a great conversation with his buddy Jim right now, I bet. I will sing one more "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" for them both during a seventh-inning stretch today!

Mary, Diane, Des, Michael, Mary, David,
Our deepest sympathies for the loss of Bobby. We admire Bobby's dedication to all he found important--church, family, and brotherhood. He was unfaltering in his loyalty to his Mother (Aunt Al to us.)
We shared many fun Christmas celebrations at the home on Haverhill.
Our last memory of Bobby was "cutting a rug" with Diane at Des and Diane's Golden Wedding Anniversary party. He was on top of the world and, boy, could he dance!
Love and peace,
Jackie Alexander

Dear Mary,
So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I am a friend of Bob's from the Three Mile Drive neighborhood. He was a brilliant, smart man and I will miss him. I have wonderful memories of him with the Hindelang family.
