Teresa Coggshall Obituary

Published by William R. May Funeral Home - North Wales on Aug. 30, 2016.
Teresa M. (nee Murphy) Coggshall passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in Wyncote, PA. She was 65. Born on July 17, 1951, to Edward and Margaret Murphy in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia, Teresa was the third of four children. She attended St. Therese grade school and Cardinal Dougherty High School, Class of '69. She worked in the corporate offices of the Atlantic Richfield Company for ten years in Philadelphia while earning her college degree in Business Administration from LaSalle University. Teresa married Robert P. Coggshall, also of Philadelphia, in 1982, and shortly afterwards they settled in North Wales, PA, where they raised their two daughters. Teresa was a tireless advocate for her girls and taught them to be strong, independent, and kind. She was also a loyal friend to many people in her community and many more outside of it. Teresa loved to bike, golf, dance, laugh, play tennis, swim in the ocean, spend time with family, and see the world. She had an adventuresome spirit, a tremendous heart, and an inspiring love of life. Teresa was active in her parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in North Wales, where she taught religious education to children, served as a member of the parish's women's group for nearly ten years and president for two, and hosted a weekly Bible Study. In 2012, she earned a master's degree in Theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, earning a 4.0 grade-point average. Teresa was also a longtime resident of Ocean City, NJ, where she served as a valued member of the OC Community Association. Teresa is preceded in death by her beloved father, Edward Murphy; her mother, Margaret Trainor Murphy; her uncle, John Trainor; and her nephew Kevin Murphy. She is survived by her devoted husband of thirty-five years, Bob Coggshall; daughters Kathleen Coggshall Wilson and Mary Beth Seeley; sons-in-law Brian Seeley and Fletcher Wilson; brother Edward Murphy; sisters Mary Ann Bonner and Margaret Mary Finlan; step-children Robert Coggshall Jr. and wife Dana, Deborah Brill and husband Joe; four step-grandchildren Kaity, Drew, Lauren, and Elena; nieces and nephews Christopher, Eamon, Anne Marie, Maureen, and Mark; and one grandchild, Talia Grace Seeley. Teresa will be deeply missed by all. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church 424 S. Main St. North Wales, PA 19454 at Noon on Wednesday, September 7. A visitation will be held at May Funeral Home at 142 N Main St in North Wales on Tuesday evening, September 6, from 6:30 to 8 PM and at St. Rose of Lima Church on Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:45 AM preceding the service. Burial will follow at St. John Neumann cemetery in Chalfont. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Pat Summit Foundation for Alzheimer's Research (by mail: 520 W. Summit Hill Drive, Suite 1101 - Knoxville, TN 37902; online: https://etf.givingfuel.com/psf).

I am so sad to hear about Teresa passing. I have known her since grade school. Was a great friend of my sister Donna. All the times we spent together were always a good time and lots of laughs. The last time I saw her was a trip to Philly to see all the holiday sites when I tagged along with soriety. What a great day that was. Always loved that you all stayed together since high school. She was a person you could easily talked to and made you feel special each time you were together. Rest in peace Teresa you are now free of pain. Watch over all of us.

I have known Teresa over 50 years. We met as Freshman at Cardinal Dougherty (Class of '69) and began our journey as special friends. I was blessed to know her and have her love, kindness and friendship. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and there was nothing bad that could be said about her. She was a beautiful person with a contagious smile and will forever live in my heart. My deepest sympathy to Bob, Kathleen, Mary Beth and the rest of the people that loved my dear dear friend, Teresa. May she rest in peace, body, mind and soul whole again. I will miss her tremendously.

R.I.P. Theresa you were such a kind and gentle person. I remember the days when you and Pat coached me in my favorite sport, basketball at Little Flower. I also remember all the times down the shore when I would come and visit when my sister Donna was in town. The group of girls that have stuck together since you graduated from high school was truly amazing. I enjoyed those times down the shore. I know you are in a better placed but you will be missed by many.

I hold many treasured memories in my heart of Teresa, beginning our friendship at St. Rose of Lima. if we weren't in the church hall decorating for the Christmas bazaar, or organizing Easter candy fundraisers, we were on the softball fields and soccer fields cheering on our girls. If we weren't on the tennis courts, or choosing fabric for her family room window treatments, we were having a cup of tea, chatting and just being friends. (More so at her home, because she wasn't comfortable driving down my steep driveway!) Meeting in Chestnut Hill for lunch became a tradition for a while as life moved on. It's been a few years since a chance meeting at the glenside Pub where Kathleen showed both of us how to get each other's contact info into our smartphones!
Her twinkling eyes, perpetual smile and gentle, soft spoken way made you feel special and blessed that she was your friend. God needed another Angel and he wanted the best. With love, Jacalyn
