Rick and Paulette, I am now just hearing about your mother's passing...she was a grand lady in every sense of the word, and she was mama's best friend. I will miss her smile and sense of humor and, of course, the endless supply of Ferro Roche's! My sincere condolences to you and your family.

Rick and Paulette,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of your mother Tilla. (And it was two weeks later.) I have SO many memories of her!! She and Mom had so much fun over the years, too. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Paulette and Ricky,
Oh, what a grand lady and neighbor your mom was. I remember back and forth visits between our houses, puppies from the same abandoned litter, dinners next door, etc. Your mom never lost her beautiful smile and kindness. Sue and I talked about Mary Lou, our shared rag doll made by Tilla. She also made Katrina "Georgie", as Katrina was not at all interested in a girl rag doll. Many texts have passed between Sue, my children and hers, and me about our fond, wonderful Strode Circle memories with the Willimons.
A life well lived, for sure. Our best, Don & Sally Owen Boiling Springs, SC

My sympathy to your family. Tilla was my very good friend and mentor when I was a secretary in Textile Hall in 1960. My husband was a senior, and I worked there for a year. In the 57 years since, I have never forgotten her and her kindness.

My son Alex (8) often enjoyed visiting Ms. Tilla with my father William Allgood. He loved listening to her play the piano, talking with her and looking at all her angels. We are so sad to hear of her passing, however, Alex told me he was happy he got to see her over Christmas. Our family will always have fond memories of getting to know her. As my son, Alex, said, "she is the first person I ever knew that was over 100 yrs old and she plays the piano really well. I hope I do as well as she does because she's amazing!". She was very sweet, talented and will be missed. We will think of her often. Please accept our condolences.
