Valerie Ann Heagler

Valerie Ann Heagler was born on December 21, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late John Smart and Emma (Margaret) McEachin. She passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. She attended school at Roberson County Training School later named R. B Dean High School, in Maxton, North Carolina where she was raised by her grandmother, Johnnie McEachin and attended Shiloh Baptist Church. Valerie lived all her adult life in Paterson, NJ where she had many friends and enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a passion for card games. Her daughters and grandchildren were her life. She was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Fuller; father(s) John Smart and Amos Stokes, Sr. and her mother, Emma "Margaret" Stokes. She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: her loving and devoted daughter, Monique Heagler; three grandchildren, Wadshawn Smart of Ashville, NC, Valnaisa Heagler and Shidasia Murph of Paterson, NJ; three great-grandchildren, Beverly Rios, Charanda and Antwan Floyd and Curtis Tyson; her godchildren, Twanece Miller and Jason Odom; her sister, Pastor Belinda Stokes of Charlotte, NC and her brother, Amos Stokes, Jr., of Mebane NC; son-in-law, Cowell Fuller of Englewood, NJ; her aunts, Dean and Hattie; great aunt, Mary Lee Robertson of Baltimore, MD; four uncles, James Kendrick of Teaneck, NJ, Ernest Stokes of NY, Henry Stokes of Teachey, NC and Bill Stokes of Baltimore, MD.; a special cousin, Rosiland McLean of Teaneck, NJ; special friend, Eugene Stewart of Paterson, NJ and a host of other relatives and friends.
