I never met Vernon, but I know he was a member of our family going back some 4 or 5 generations. I also know he met my uncle, Johann (Joop) Vaandrager, who has also passed away and who was a GP in Garland Texas. I am sorry for your loss.

I'm so glad that my sister Shirley and cousin Bob put together the Rienstra reunions in recent years so that I could get to know this cousin of mine named Vern, a man that I am proud to be able to call my cousin! Peace be with the family as you experience this loss.

Carolyn,
Vern was an excellent physician and such a nice guy. I really enjoyed talking to him. I envied his bike trips in Iowa. The funniest story he told me was about the time he forgot to take his bike down off the roof of the car before driving into the garage.
My deepest sympathies to you and the rest of your family. Lots of people in the NICU remember both of you very fondly.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss of this beloved man. I met Dr. Vaandrager at Butterworth Hospital during his residency days and after he graduated chose him for my daughter's pediatrician. He was an amazingly warm and kind man. It was an honor to have known him and work with him.

Served on the Camp Roger Board with Vern and have known him for years. I never saw him other than kind and gentle and never without a smile. So sorry, Carolyn. He was a gem.

There could never be a better friend than the one we had in Vern.
We loved him from the bottom of our hearts from the time we first met him at LaGrave CRC. The vacation trips, the dinners, the New Year's Eve parties - especially the one where he wore his tuxedo to our house - all shared with Carolyn - were times of great joy.
