William "Bill" Bernard Nugent, Sr. born November 8th 1930 a native of New Orleans, LA and longtime resident of Metairie, LA passed away in Slidell, LA on Tuesday, August 20th, 2013. He was 82 years old. Bill was the son of the late Arnold and Lillian Babin Nugent and husband of the late Emelda Wartberg Nugent for 50 years until her passing in 1999 and now married to June Martino Nugent for the past 7 years. Bill leaves to mourn his passing his children, Gail Albaral (Larry), William "Bill" Jr. (Christie), Cynthia Provenzano (Roy), Sandra Cooley (special friend, Jerry) and Nancy Franchek (Jeffrey). His grandchildren: Jeffrey Albaral, Sr., Melanie Haggerty, Kevin Albaral, Chantelle Streck, Gennifer Martin, Jessica Nugent, Andrew Villarrubia, Roy Provenzano, III, Michael Provenzano, William Provenzano, Danielle Provenzano, Hannah Cooley, Melissa Yandell and Megan Franchek and 10 great grandchildren. Also survived by four brothers, Arnold, Earl, Clarence, and Gerald Nugent; four sisters, Lillian McCarthy, Evelyn Hudson, Catherine Marsh and Rosalie Rodriguez; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Step-father of Bernice Boyd (Tom), Eugene Martino (Becky), Anthony Martino (Fiancée Tishua Lobrigue) and the late Angela Martino. Step-grandfather of Olivia Boyd, Lauren Boyd, Ryan Boyd, Sarah Martino, Eugene Martino (Lauren). Bill retired from Jefferson Parish Fire Department after over 30 years of service. He was a Master Craftsman and had a passion for wood, creating many custom homes and renovations. Bill loved his family and friends and loved spending time at the camp and traveling. His love and expertise will be missed by all who know him. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Friday, August 23, 2013. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, followed by a Mass in the chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
