Mrs. Winnifred A. (Burger) Tombino, age 77, of Peabody, died Tuesday July 20, 2010 in a local nursing home. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Tombino. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Henry R. and Lottie D. (Hudson) Burger. She was raised in Lynn and attended Lynn Classical High School. She had lived in Peabody for the past 40 years. Winnifred worked as a hairdresser and cosmetologist. She was also an instructor and executive director of the Dale Academy in Boston. She excelled at knitting and crocheting and was very proud of the beautiful garden at her home. She enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods with her husband. She is survived by her brother; William A. Burger and his wife Millicent of Las Vegas; her sisters-in-law; Barbara Burger of Chicopee and Frances M. Tombino of Lynn; her brother-in-law Thomas F. Neary of Lynn; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Henry "Russell" Burger, Jr. and Estelle F. Tredway and the sister-in-law of the late Barbara F. Neary. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 10AM in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7PM. Those who prefer may make donations to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
