James Jett Obituary
He was born in Mendota, Va., a son to the late James and Ocie Mae Vermillion Jett. He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and was retired from Monroe Calculating.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald William Jett, and his former wife, Janette Carter.
Survivors include daughter, Rita Forrester and husband Bob; son, James D. Jett and wife Teresa; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Jett of Orangeburg, S.C.; grandchildren, Malissa Nowling and husband Lee of Florence, S.C., Joseph Forrester, Tyler Forrester, Michael Pyne and wife Rhonda of Front Royal, Va., and Tucker Jett; great-grandchildren, Will Nowling, Madison Pyne, Macey Pyne and Peyton Pyne; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Hiltons, Va. Committal service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery. A procession of family and friends will leave Weaver Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers include Joseph Forrester, Tyler Forrester, Michael Pyne, Tucker Jett, John Hendershot, Bill Jett, Lee Nowling and John Wolfe.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church, or other times at Janette Carter's former residence, or at the home of either of her children.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, c/o Denise Harris, 204 Echo Drive, Gate City, VA 24251; or to the Carter Family Fold, P.O. Box 111, Hiltons, VA 24258. Online condolences may be registered at www.weaverfuneralhome.net.
