BERNARD FRANK MATHIS Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory Bernard Frank Mathis, age 80, of Yakima, died February 5, 2017 at Landmark Care Center. Frank was born in Peoria, Illinois and came to Washington State as a young boy growing up on the Kitsap Peninsula. Frank was a proud sailor and a veteran of the Korean War deploying with his beloved Navy. Frank retired from patrolling Hanford after 22 years of watchful surveillance service. . Frank is survived by his wife, Patricia of Yakima, two sons; Kenny and Mike Mathis, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter all of Spokane, sisters; Colleen Laird of Colorado Springs, CO and Rita Owens of Moses Lake, WA, two brothers; Don of Fircrest, WA and Fred of Port Orchard, WA, step children and step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, as well as his in-laws and his Hanford family. There will be a Graveside Memorial Service at Othello Cemetery in the Spring. Frank was very proud to be a Navy Veteran.
