BERTHA KATE BERGLUND Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home Bertha Kate Berglund was the youngest of five children born to Jacob and Lydia Gohl on August 16, 1923 in Wiley City, near Yakima. She passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Pasco. Bertha grew up in Ahtanum and graduated from Yakima High School. She worked for the Yakima Valley Transportation Company and became a pilot, learning to fly from Charlie McAllister in a J-3 Cub. Bertha married Russell Eugene Berglund on April 26, 1952 and together they created a farm from raw sagebrush ground north of Pasco in Block 15 beginning in 1956. The Berglund family continues to farm there today. Together Russ and Bertha enjoyed camping, fishing, and skiing with family and friends. They had great stories of skiing near Yakima before lifts were available and runs meant long hikes and Telemark turns. In later years, they took up golf which they enjoyed as well. Russ and Bertha also saw much of the world, traveling extensively after the farm season ended with their close friends, Don and Tiny Huntzinger. In addition, Bertha was one of the original members of Chinook Baptist Church. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Russ and her siblings. She is survived by her children, Penny, Greg, and Flint and their families, her sister-in-law, Nadyne Snipes and husband Don, extended family in Yakima, and her dear friend Tiny Huntzinger. Services will be held on Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m. at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court St. in Pasco. There will be a viewing immediately prior to the service at 1 p.m. with internment to follow at the Eltopia Cemetery. The family invites you to sign their on-line guest book at www.muellersfuneral
