BETTY JEAN BOWERS COOPER HOLLENBECK Betty Jean Bowers Cooper Hollenbeck Passed away May 25th in West Richland at the Parkside Adult Care Home. Betty was just 22 days shy of being on this earth for 92 years. Born June 16th, 1924 to Carl Thomas Bowers and Anna Miller on the family farm outside the village of Nazareth, Texas. Betty was the eldest of the 8 children of Tom and Anna Bowers. Betty graduated from Nazareth High School in 1943. In July 1944 she met and married a local young Army Air Corp sergeant, Earl Cooper. Earl and Betty farmed his dad's land until 1953 when they relocated to Ephrata. Two years later they moved to Othello in 1956, where they remained until Earl's death in 1978. In 1993 Betty met her sister-in-law Lynda Bowers' uncle Earl Hollenbeck, marrying him in 1993. After Earl's death in 2001, Betty moved shortly thereafter to Richland to be near her daughter Earla. Betty remained in the Tri-Cities until her death. Betty was preceded in death by both parents, 4 siblings and 3 husbands. Survivors include her remaining 3 siblings; her daughters Earla Welch and husband Stan of Richland and Janice Karecci and husband Joe of Lacey, sons Don Cooper of Tacoma and Darryll Cooper of Marysville, son-in-law Don Emerson, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law Lynda Bowers of Othello. Memorial services at a date to be set later in June at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello. Special thanks goes to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy and the Parkside Adult Care Home of West Richland for the tender care of Betty in her last days of life.
