ROBERT J ELOVICH Bob Elovich was born on Dec 1, 1941 in Marianna, PA, a mining town that was once one of the most outstanding historical coal mining sites in Pennsylvania. Marianna was a town of immigrants from all over Eastern Europe, recruited by the mine owners. Both of Bob's parents came from the former Yugoslavia but met in the U.S. Bob attended California University of Pennsylvania where he received his Associate Degree as a medical tech. At the age of 19, Bob hitch-hiked with an acquaintance traveling to Boise, Idaho. He took additional classes at Boise State College where he became a coroner's assistant. In 1961, Bob met Ales-sandra (Sandy Prounchick at a Mensa meeting, though because they did not wish to incriminate their future offspring, they chose to tell people that they met in a bar. Bob and Sandy married on Sept 16, 1962 and in the following year had their son Andrew and in 1968, their daughter Kimberly. In 1962 Bob began a forty-one year career at Hanford as a Technician, retiring from Battelle in 2003. Bob and Sandy were instrumental in bringing the library to West Richland and also championed Tapteal Elementary School. It was in these years that Bob became mayor pro-tem of West Richland and enjoyed learning the politics of running a small city. In 1981, Bob and his family were involved in a terrible automobile accident, their car hit by another vehicle operated by a drunk driver. Extended family members were killed and Bob's wife Sandy incurred extreme head injuries from which she would never recover. On January 1, 1995, Bob married Marcia Harvey Snyder then participated in raising her youngest son Aaron, as well as mentoring Marcia's older children Robert and Esther. Bob became a doting grandfather to Esther's children, Samantha and Aaron Robin, a title not requiring genetics. They have also acquired three other grandchildren through close friends, Yolie, Chris Jr. and Savanah, who have also shown consistent love and devotion to Grandpa E. Bob and Marcia have lived together in Kennewick until Friday, Sept 9, 2016, when he died suddenly of a massive heart attack. His family and friends will miss his dry wit and loving character. Arrangements have been handled by Mueller's Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at West Highland United Methodist Church in Kennewick, WA on September 24 at 1:30 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Bob's favorite charity.
