CAROL ANN PIERCE Hillcrest Memorial Center Carol Ann Pierce, 76 years of age and resident of Pasco, WA, went home to be the Lord peacefully at her daughters' home on Saturday, February 25, 2017. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and several friends. Carol was born April 29, 1940 in Aberdeen, Washington to parents Walter and Doris Otterstein. On January 11, 1958, Carol married Fred Thaanum of Montesano, WA where they lived and later divorced. She met the love of her life when she met Ike Baumgarten of Montesano, WA. They were married on January 27, 1969 until his passing on November 15, 1980. Carol's highest calling was her family and caring for others. God put it on her heart to take care of those who were in need. Carol dedicated her life to caring for others. In her younger years, Carol worked as a cook in the Beachwood Nursing Home in Elma. After working with seniors, Carol decided to become a Certified Nurses Aid, where she worked in the McCleary Hospital. In 1976, Carol opened an Adult Family Home in Grays Harbor County. She operated her home for 17 years in Montesano, Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Hogan's Corner. Carol was very loving, attentive and taught her children how to care for others by example. In addition to giving to others, Carol loved spending time with her family and friends; she was a very social and spiritual person. Carol attended The Living Room Church in Kennewick, WA. She spent a great deal of time drawing, singing, cooking, and reading Janet Evanovich Books out loud to her younger sister, Beverly. The highlight of Carol's day, during her final journey, was when Charlie Rose (great granddaughter) would go in her room and visit her GG throughout the day. They played games, shared tea and cake and built a beautiful bond. Carol was also an avid fan of Seattle Seahawks and the Mariners. Carol is survived by her children; daughters, Therissa (Kip) Stacy of Shelton, WA, Cheryl (Chris) Chacon of Pasco, WA and sons Wally Thaanum of Lynnwood, WA., Ron Baumgarter of Battle Ground, WA;. one sibling Beverly Carpenter of Pasco, WA, and several step-children, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and an abundance of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Carol is preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Elizabeth (Bunnie) Crawford; husband, Ike Baumbgarten and nephew Bradley Edwards.
