CHARLES "CHARLIE" LANDELLS, JR. Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home Charles "Charlie" Landells Jr., 72, of Kennewick, WA, passed away on January 24th, 2017 of cancer. Charlie was born in Montclair, NJ on February 9th, 1944. After graduating high school, he served in the Army from 1962-1965 with an honorable discharge and received recognition as an expert rifle sharpshooter. After leaving the service, his love of flying resulted in him becoming a crop duster for Tachell Aviation with operations in New Mexico and the Tri-City area. He flew for his longtime friend, Maynard Lund, who had bought out Tachell Aviation and he subsequently became the sole proprietor of L&L Helicopters, which he owned until the time of his death. He was a master mechanic and inspector for helicopters and airplanes. In the early 70's he became interested in owning, training, and racing horses. He served as a racing steward for the state of Washington for many years. Charlie met his soulmate, Nancy, in April of 1977 at Sun Downs Race Track. Together they enjoyed their horses, attended the Breeder's Cup several years, and many other horse racing events. They also enjoyed travel and cruises. He was a lifetime member of the Kennewick Eagles where they frequently enjoyed dinner and dancing. Charlie is survived by his life partner Nancy Sorick and her sons, Steve and Randy Sorick, his daughter Victoria Borin and two grandsons, Tyler and Devin, sister Hazel, and other family and friends. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Charles Landells, Sr. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tom Graves will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in the Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Lourdes Foundation, attention Charles Landells Memorial, 520 North 4th Avenue, Pasco Washington 99301. The family of Charles Landells Jr. wishes to thank the University of Washington Medical Center, Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco, Miss Abigail Kawananakoa, and friends and family that provided support. Special thanks to Frank and Sherri Carr for all their time and trips to the University of Washington Medical Center with Charlie throughout his illness.
