DONALD E. JONES Donald E Jones, 87, died February 3, 2017 from complications associated with renal failure. A long time resident of Pasco, Don was born April 10, 1929, to E. S. and Eula (Mitchell) Jones. Always the entrepreneur, Don had a multifaceted career. Before the age of 10 he was helping a neighbor deliver milk to homes in Pasco. In his teens he became a butcher; as a young adult he seized an opportunity and became a cement finisher. He founded Northwest Concrete Construction, pouring and finishing stoops and sidewalks in northwest Pasco, the Federal Building in Richland, multiple projects on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, and many public buildings throughout the Northwest, ultimately building swimming pools, founding Pool & Patio Supply, Blue Gem Pools, and Pool Products. If your swimming pool was built in the 60's, 70's or 80's, it may have been designed and constructed by Don and his crew. In his later years Don turned to designing and consulting, including projects such as the Portland Trail Blazers workout/therapy pool and many commercial water features. On November 14, 1948 Don married his high school sweetheart Betty J (Lightfoot) Jennings. Don and Betty raised three children and actively supported their activities such as "Grid Kids Football" and the Boy Scouts. Having earned his pilot's license as a teenager, Don and Betty spent many hours flying from job to job in their small plane until Betty's death in 1987. Don is survived by his children Ron (Debbie) Jones of Port Angeles, Nancy (Jim) Batch, Kennewick, and Ken (Jeannie) Jones, Auburn, eleven grandchildren, and numerous great grand-children. A celebration of Don's life will be held at the Pasco Red Lion on February 26, 2:00 PM.
