DONNA JEAN (SCHNEIDER) HACK February 4th, 1927 to September 16th, 2016 Donna Jean passed away at 89 years of age in the comfort of her own home on September 16th 2016 due to complications from a recent stroke. Her daughters Michele and Ann Marie, with assistance from Chaplaincy Hospice Care were with her as she went through the final stages of her life in peace. Baptized Donna Jean DuPuis on February 4th, 1927 in Pendleton, Oregon, she was the youngest of two brothers and a sister. Both parents, Chester and Rachel died at a young age, resulting in the children being raised by foster parents. Donna being only 7 years old, was placed in the St. Joseph's Academy to live with the Nuns. Around 14 years of age she lived with a family who owned a restaurant, earning room and board by caring for their children cooking and cleaning until she graduated from high school at 16 years of age. Donna graduated Magna Cum Laude along with several music honors and a scholarship to a local women's college. Donna lived in Pendleton, OR until 1965 before moving to Richland, WA. She stayed in the Tri-Cities area for the remainder of her life. She and her siblings were all very accomplished musicians. Donna's forte was the violin and piano. She continued to play the piano throughout her life and passed on her love and passion for music and dancing..everyone became a "toe tapper". Donna was fortunate to have travelled throughout most of the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. While she was still able and feeling adventurous, she and her husband Cliff also travelled to Europe and New Zealand, taking in the sights and sounds along the way. Of all the places she was able to visit, Donna stated numerous times that Hawaii was her favorite destination. Dancing definitely was her passion and she was well versed in many different styles but she took a special interest in square dancing and was a life-long member at the Shuffler's Shanty, a local dancing club. She was a dedicated member of the club for over 35 years and created many lasting friendships over the years. She never missed a Friday night dance and was very active in various costume balls and special holiday events at the Shanty. You could always see Donna coming with the Square Dancers Flag proudly flying from her car antenna. Donna's Family wishes to extend gratitude to Heather Kirk, owner of Home Health Solutions, and their staff of caregivers. Their attentiveness and caring was very much appreciated over Donna's final months and days. Because of their services Donna was able to remain in her home during her passing. Special thanks to Elena, Maria, Sonya, and Norma.their professionalism and caring during this difficult time was very much appreciated and Donna was treated with respect and dignity at all times. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Hack, brothers Lt. Col. Robert C. DuPuis, Edward DuPuis, and sister Lenore Durning Fehrenbacher. She is survived by her children Michele Cowgill, Ann Marie Rouse, Marcia Hack Honn, Patrick Kraber, Robert (Rusty) Schneider, Paul Schneider, 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and her 2 cats Junior and Julia. Donna's final resting place is to be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick, WA with Mueller's Funeral Home handling all of the arrangements. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be directed to a local animal rescue such as POPP or local Humane Society. Donna loved her cats and would be pleased.
