DONNA JOYCE BUSNESS Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home Donna was born on December, 4 1935 in Sioux Falls, SD, to Ralph and Viola Martin. She passed on to be with the Lord April 23, 2017 as a result of a sudden illness. She grew up in the Sioux Falls area and graduated from Washington High School in 1953. During high school Donna was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. It was during this time that she met Ken Busness. They were married on June 5, 1955. While living in Sioux Falls, Donna worked at Home Federal Savings and Loan while Ken served in the Air National Guard. In 1963, she moved to Rapid City, SD, so her husband could pursue a degree in electrical engineering. After Ken's graduation they moved to Kennewick, WA in 1966, where he began a career with Battelle. Soon after, their son Kevin joined the family in 1967. Donna was a very loving wife and mother who liked to stay active. She was an avid bowler, golfer and bridge player. She and Ken enjoyed many rounds with friends at Canyon Lakes Golf Course, where she also served as president of the Ladies Golf Association. She worked as a teacher's aide at Edison Elementary School and was involved with the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother. In the spring of 1977 the family moved to Muskegon, MI, due to Ken's temporary work assignment, where she continued to remain active. The family moved back to Kennewick in 1979 and was again actively involved at West Highlands Methodist Church. Donna was an accomplished seamstress who could sew anything and was employed for a while at a local sewing store. She started KD Krafts with her husband. They made beautiful table runners, wall hangings, placemats, etc. and participated in many craft shows in and around the Tri-Cities. Donna loved to travel and visited many cities across America with Ken in his job-related travels, including the opportunity to travel to England and Germany, which she enjoyed very much. Donna was a WSU Coug Mom and an avid supporter of the Cougars, Seahawks and Mariners. Donna is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ken, her son Kevin, grandkids Kurt and Kyla Busness, brother George Martin, sister Nancy Dean and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Viola, and her brothers Robert, Roger and Jerry. The family would like to express their appreciation to Chaplaincy Hospice Care for the kind care provided to Donna. A brief inurnment service will be held on Monday, May 1, at 2 pm at the Veterans Um Garden in Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick.
