EDNA ELLIOTT March 18, 1926 September 19, 2016 Edna Elliott, longtime pillar of the community of Walla Walla, passed away on September 19, 2016, at 90 years of age. Edna and James (deceased) moved to Walla Walla in 1959 from Memphis, TN. They raised two sons, James Jr. (deceased) and Keith Elliott (Tacoma, WA). Edna and James were married for 67 years. Edna also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren whom she loved spending time with. Edna was heavily involved in her church and her community. She served as a leader in the Order of the Eastern Star, Walla Walla School Board, Race Unity Coalition, Walla Walla Senior Center Board of Trustees, YWCA Board, Aging & Long Term Care Board, Walla Walla County Human Services Advisory Board, Walla Walla Alliance for the Mentally Ill, VFW, Lions Club, American Red Cross, Berney Homemakers Club, National Organization of Women, and more. Edna was featured in a Black history calendar produced by the Black Student Union at Whitman College, and in a 55 Plus feature for the Walla Walla Union Bulletin. Edna loved to entertain, always happy to host the wealth of family and friends who would come through her door. She jumped at any opportunity to serve, whether it was with an organized group or simply noticing a neighbor needing a hand. Edna also loved traveling, antiquing, or finding just the right hat, purse, or pair of shoes.
