EILEEN MARY KLEYN Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home Eileen Mary (Casey) Kleyn 90 passed away peacefully on July 17, 2016 at the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice. Eileen was born in Seattle on May 30, 1926. Shortly after, she was adopted by George and Alice Casey of Toppenish. Eileen joined three adopted sisters at the Casey household. After graduating from Toppenish High School, she married Neil Kleyn January 27, 1944. The couple farmed in Zillah/Toppenish until 1955 when they purchased a farm of their own, becoming pioneer settlers in Badger Canyon. Eileen drove truck, sorted spuds, ran the mint still while ironing the clothes and making wonderful cinnamon rolls. In 1969 Eileen and Neil sold their farm and moved to a smaller farm in Walla Walla, enjoying the Blue Mountains, country living, and balloon stampedes for the next 30 years. While in Walla Walla Eileen's interest in artistic painting really took off. She became a traveling artist putting on ceramic shows at the Pendleton Round Up, Spilyay Indian Cultural Center, and many other venues. Eileen was well recognized in the artistic community; Charlie Daniels purchased some of her artwork. Eileen researched her family history and eventually met some of her relatives who were of the Cowichan and Sannich Native American tribe, Salt Springs Island, BC. After Neil died in 2003, Eileen moved to the Manor at Canyon Lakes and lived the next 10 years enjoying the residents and employees, many of whom became close friends. Her husband Neil and son Warren preceded her in death. She is survived by sons Vance (Mary), Lynn, and daughter Janice (Mark) Williams, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. At Eileen's request, there will be no memorial service. Contributions can be made to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice (who took wonderful care of Eileen) or to the Humane Society. The family invites you to sign their online tribute wall at www.muellersfuneral homes.com.
