ERNEST LEROI CARROLL JR. Ernest LeRoi Carroll Jr. passed away at Mountain View Rehabilitation and Care Center, Marysville, WA, on December 4, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born on July 3, 1925, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Ernest Sr. and Lillian Carroll. He was the second child and first son of 5 children. Ernest graduated from Ogden High School in 1942 and served in the Navy from 1943-1946. He reminisced about his WWII war time military service often in his life. Ernest's service as a missionary for the LDS Church was also a frequent topic when he reminisced about his life experiences. Ernest learned to speak Spanish and served his mission in Argentina from 1946 to 1949. Upon returning home, Ernest attended college at the University of Utah. Ernest met Gwen Carroll and they married on August 20, 1954 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS temple. Ernest and Gwen welcomed nine children into their home, 6 boys and 3 girls. The family lived in Utah, Idaho,and then Washington, making Pasco, Washington their home for 25 years. Ernest lived his last years in the homes of two of his sons, Bruce and Chad, until health reasons placed him in the Marysville, WA rehabilitation facility. Over the years, Ernest worked primarily sales jobs for companies such as Intermountain Natural Gas Company, Yakima Cascade Natural Gas and Ernst Hardware. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen, his parents Ernest Sr. and Lillian, his brother Don and sister Dorothy Meadows. Survivors include brothers: Dean, Highland, UT and Thomas (Ramona), Salt Lake City, UT; children: Sterling (Elain), Tallahassee, FL, Douglas (Wendy), Gold Bar, WA; Jerry (Anne), Burbank, WA; Alden (Karen), Orem, UT; Nadine Mitchell (Don), Burbank, WA; Bruce, Moses Lake, WA; Darla Jordan (Ron), Salem, OR; Roxanne Bauer (Lon), Billings, MT; Chad, Moses Lake, WA; 27 grand children; and 47 great-grandchildren with 3 more expected in 2017. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the LDS chapel at 925 N. Grape Dr. Moses Lake, WA, with the viewing at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. For family, interment and military honors will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Columbia Memorial Funeral Chapel at 224 S. 24 Ave., Pasco, WA.
