EUGENE PEARL BOWLING 9-29-26/6-2-17 First and foremost Eugene was a patriot- he loved this great country. Eugene was born in Hazard, Ky. and was raised there through age 18 at which time he entered the Army to serve our country during WW2. Upon honorable discharge he went on to other jobs, but longed for more adventure, experience- just more. He signed up for the Air Force and once again served our country in the Korean war. After an honorable discharge he came to Richland to work at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation as a Radiation Monitor. He retired in 1977 due to medical reasons, but never considered leaving Richland. Dad loved living here in the desert climate. A favorite time of year was when the sage would bloom, and he would often take a drive to admire the beauty of it. Those drives inevitably ended with a stop at the Columbia River to sit and watch it roll by. Eugene is predeceased by his beloved dog Eddie, who passed away while waiting for Dad to get out of the hospital, his parents and all of his siblings. He is survived by Children: Danny Bowling (Ann), Dr. Paulette Murphy, Deborah Lee (Mark), Dr. Mark James (Jack); Grandchildren: Nathan Bowling (Erica), Hannah Hanley (Rory), Sarah Bowling; Great Grandchild: Walter Hanley. At his request, there will be no services. The family would like to thank RN"s Helene and Javier at Kadlec Hospital, and RN's Sherry and Andi at Richland Rehab, CNA Eva at Richland Rehab, and Bill Webber and Ben Wallace for the religious comfort they provided. Also special thanks to Angela Monaghan who cared for dad weekly, then stayed with him daily while in the hospital and rehab.
