EVELYN ELIZABETH (GILKS) O'NEAL Evelyn "Evy" Elizabeth (Gilks) O'Neal, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2016, at Trios Health surrounded by her loving family. Evy was born January 11, 1926, in Big Bay, Marquette, Michigan to William Henry and Beatrice Rose (Kidder) Gilks. She lived in Marquette until her junior year in high school when she moved with her family to Richmond, CA, where she graduated from Richmond Union High School. Evy eventually followed her family to Richland, WA in 1951 and ultimately settled in Kennewick, WA. Evy held numerous clerical jobs until she found the place she belonged with the International Union of the Operating Engineers, Local 280. Evy retired from Local 280 in 1986 as Office Manager. Evy had many loves in her life, but found her true love during her time with Local 280 where she met and married Donald L. O'Neal. Evy loved spending time with her friends and family, she loved bowling, and she loved traveling. Evy and Don had the pleasure of traveling across American, going to Germany, Japan, Mexico, and several times to her favorite place, Hawaii. Evy and Don loved camping with her brother, Carl Henderson and his family, and eventually bought an Alpha Gold 5th Wheel and became traveling members with the Alpha Gold Sun Seekers. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, brother, Carl E. Henderson and sister Dorothy Henderson Brown La Pertche. She is survived by her sister, Margaret "Peg" (Bob) Stilwell, sister-in-law, Esther M. Henderson, sons William C "Bill" (Sandra) Floberg and Brian K. Floberg, and daughter Christine "Tina" (Gary) Baumgartner. Other family members who will cherish her memory include granddaughters Jennifer (Jeff) Hennessey, Carla (Josh) Prock, Angela (Tony) Carrillo, Melissa (Ben) Valadez, Heather (Alan) Nichols, Tara (Mark) Newton, Camille (Chris) Rodes, grandsons Alex Hayes and Jeff Baumgartner, four great-granddaughters, 11 great-grandsons, two nieces, four nephews and their children, and her best friend Pat Gilbert. There will be no services per her request. Interment will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick under the direction of Mueller's Funeral Home. The Baumgartner family would like to extend a special thank you to her granddaughter, Angela Carrillo, for being by Evelyn and Donald's side during the final years of their life. A special bond was shared by the three of them. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, or a .
