Gaines Lee Phillips, 46, formerly of Richland, Washington, died suddenly Saturday, December 20, 2003, at Salem Memorial Hospital in Salem, New Jersey.
He was born August l8, 1957, in Galveston, Texas, to William Earl and Sarah N (Bennett) Phillips.
Mr. Phillips graduated from Hanford High School in l976. He attended Columbia College.
He served his apprenticeship in the Carpenters Union and the Painters Union and was employed at the Hanford Nuclear Power Plant and in New Jersey as a Nuclear Coating Specialist.
He loved hunting, fishing, skiing, gardening and all outdoor sports.
Survivors include his parents, William Earl and Sarah N. Phillips of Homosassa, Florida, brother and sister-in-law, William A. Phillips (Dyann) of Middleburg, Florida, four sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy (Kevin, Captain, USN) McCarthy of New Orleans, Louisiana, Sarah Marie (Leonard) Clewett of Lancaster, PA, Wendy P (Scott, Commander, USN, Retired) of Brentwood, Tennessee and Jessica (Barry) Tierce of Fort Meyers, Florida; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services were held on December 27, 2003, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Crystal River, Florida.
Memorials may be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
