HAROLD HACK CHRISTY May 11, 1930 -- April 19, 2017 Harold Andrew Christy was born and raised in Downers Grove, Illinois by his loving parents Arthur Andrew Christy and Vadis LaRue Leon. Harold may have been small in stature, but he was larger in life than most men twice his size! Harold was following in his brother Leon's footsteps that he found hard to fill . . . but fill them he did, in his own way, in his own time, and with a fun flair of his very own. He was a kind, private, meek gentleman, with a unique style and true grit! Harold held many jobs during his working career: he worked for Bechtel National and CH2M Hill (both while at Hanford, WA) as a Senior Mechanical Designer. Uncle Harold joined the Navy just after WWII ended, and served our country bravely, with fierce patriotic pride for two years, until he received his honorable discharge. He spent years working along side his father at "Christy's Barber Shop", in Downer's Grove eventually buying the Barber shop outright to become the sole owner-operator. Harold was an accomplished athlete who perfected his bowling game to become a Championship Bowler and had several 300 games! He loved playing golf, pool and horseshoes, and he excelled at cribbage. He was playing cribbage with his friends right up until his untimely death in Kennewick, WA. Harold always kept himself extremely fit, and he could be seen enjoying his daily walks all over the Tri Cities of Washington state. Uncle Harold's friends and family loved and adored him, which is a wonderful testament to his unintrusive ways of keeping himself in everyone's hearts. His hugs were famous in our family, and his jokes always funny and in good taste! God blessed us with this wonderful man, who will be sorely missed as he joins his parents (Arthur & Vadis Christy), his step-mother (Myrtle Christy), his only sibling, his older brother (Leon Christy), and sister-in-law (Laura Christy), his nephew (Arthur Christy), and his two great nieces (Lana Oslin and Kimberly Cox), in Heaven. Harold is survived by his only son, Harold Andrew Christy, Jr., his loving nieces, Lorgene Christy, Charlene (Robert) Cole, and Patti (Del) Bruggeman; his great niece Kristin (Shane) Loper, and his great nephews, Arthur (Angelique) Cole, and Michael Cole. A private family Memorial, in Harold's honor, will be held this summer on the Oregon Coast. In lieu of contributions, we are confident that our Uncle Harold would love that you be kind to one another. We will always miss you, Uncle Harold. Rest In Peace.
