HARRY DONALD LUCUS October 8, 1932 - September 10, 2016 Gilles Funeral Chapel Harry Donald Lucus of Garland, Utah passed away September 10, 2016 at the age of 83 surrounded by his loving family. Harry was born in Eugene, Oregon on October 8, 1932 to Harry C. and Goldie Lucus. He attended Kenne-wick high school in Washington where he excelled in track and was a game winning halfback. He also served as a Corporal in the US Marine Reserve from 1951-1953. Ha rry graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Economics and a minor in Geology. He later earned his MBA from Utah State University in 1970. He worked briefly for the Boeing Company in Washington State before moving to Utah in 1957 to begin his life-long career at Thiokol Corporation, where he worked as a program manager for several Navy fleet ballistic missile programs. Harry was an accomplished horseman, avid hunter, NRA member and enjoyed many hunting trips and outdoor activities. He enjoyed living in the country, raising concord grapes and alfalfa. During his time spent farming, he was often accompanied by his beloved dog, Duke. Harry had a passion for rock hounding and lapidary work. This was a passion he passed on to some of his children and grandchildren. After retirement from Thiokol, Harry continued farm work in Honeyville, UT until a recent relocation to Garland, UT. He was married to Laree Lucus for 30 years and later divorced. He is survived by one sister, Sandra Call of Richland, WA; two daughters, Julie Lucus of Brigham City, UT, Lori Lucus of Warrenton, VA; two sons, Craig Lucus of Brigham City, UT, Brett Lucus of Huntersville, NC in addition to five grandchildren, one great-grand child, two nieces and a nephew. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Hanlon and niece Kristie Rounds. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Gillies Funeral Chapel in Brigham City, UT on September 16, 2016. Family members will receive guests from 1:00-1:30 pm followed by a short service at 2:00pm. Casual dress is requested. In lieu of flowers, Harry's wishes were that donations be made to a Veterans . The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the Cardiovascular and ICU teams McKay Dee Hospital for all of their valiant work on behalf of our father.
