JANICE L. WHITING Janice L. Whiting went home on January 7, 2017. She passed away peacefully surrounded by members of her family. Janice, who also had the last names of Otey and Hoffman, was born on March 6, 1940 in Pendelton, Oregon. She is a graduate of Columbia (Richland) High School class of 1957. She has been a long-time resident of the Tri-Cities moving back here in the Summer of 1980. Her life and career took her to several states like Pennsylvania, California, Oregon, and Utah; but the Tri-Cities is where she called home. Janice was proceeded in death by her sister Sharon Hoff, father Hal Otey, and mother Maleta Otey who were there to welcome her home with open arms. She also was proceeded in death by stepson Robert Whiting. Janice is survived by her husband Ray Whiting and children Brent Faught, Bruce Hoffman, Kristen Keefe, and Marc Hoffman. She has three stepsons; Ray Whiting Jr., Dennis Whiting, and Ron Whiting. She also has four surviving siblings Bob Otey, Bill Otey, Jim Otey, and Debbie Echternach. Janice has several nieces and nephews, grand children, and great grandchildren. Janice loved the outdoors and gardening. She spent many hours working her landscaping and making her property beautiful. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with the family. Her main passion was family, especially her grandchildren. One grandchild couldn't say grandma and called her Ahma instead, she love being called Ahma. Janice was known for her feisty spirit and attitude. You knew you were in trouble when you were middle named by Ahma. That feisty spirit was in her right up to the end. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations should be given in Janice's name to: Chaplaincy Health Care 1480 Fowler St. Richland, WA 99352
