JEAN MCMULLEN Beloved mother and grandmother N. Jean McMullen, age 91, peacefully passed due to complications of congestive heart failure on February 14, at her home in Pasco, surrounded by family. Jean was born in Corvallis, Oregon on September 9, 1925 to James A. and Jesse F. Strange. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1943. She married John A. McMullen on September 4, 1949 while he was a student at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Following graduation from OSU, they lived in various western Oregon logging communities until February, 1961 when they moved from Myrtle Creek, Oregon to take up farming in Block 15 near Eltopia (Ringold), Washington. Jean worked on the farm and as a farm wife, chased parts, conducted meticulous bookkeeping, raised their children, and made the very BEST pies! They farmed for 49 years and expanded the size and diversity of their business throughout the years. She took and active interest in and helped support the Franklin County Historical Society and the Carousel of Dreams. She was a member of the National Rifle Association and a donor to the Union Gospel Mission, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and other charities. She was an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks and the Mariners and kept track of their win-loss and scoring records. She also enjoyed family get-togethers and seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean is survived by her daughter Kris McMullen, son Kent (Jane) McMullen, daughter Kerri (Steve) Geppert, daughter Kim (Doug) LeFebre, grandchildren Daniel Geppert, Garrett (Ambre) LeFebre, Tyler (Raigen) McMullen, Kali (Jesse) Boone, Emily (Kevin) Hammond, two great-grandsons, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. A short graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Hermiston Cemetery, Highway 395, Hermiston, Oregon. The family will host a 1:00 pm lunch get-together at the Carousel of Dreams, 2901-F Southridge Blvd., Kennewick, Washington following the graveside service.
