JERRY KIRK Jerry Kirk, 83, died in Kennewick, WA on May 15, 2017. Jerry was born in Walla Walla, WA on October 19, 1933 to Beryl and Oliver Kirk. After two years in the US Army, he attended Central Washington University for two years, and completed his schooling at the University of Washington. He majored in accounting, was a member of Beta Alpha Psi (an international honor organization) and graduated with a BA in 1958. Jerry met Gwen Burton at his cousin's wedding in 1957, and they were married in April 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church of Walla Walla. Last month they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Jerry's business career began with Cosper Accounting in Walla Walla, followed by four years with the Internal Revenue Service. He returned to private accounting in 1966 with a move to Quincy, WA and worked for Morris, Jones & Palmer, CPAs. In June 1968, Jerry started his career with the Department of Energy in Richland, where he retired in August 1989. After retiring from DOE, Jerry spent 18 years as a volunteer buyer with the Tri-Cities Food Bank. In retirement, Jerry and Gwen enjoyed traveling, especially the baseball trips that took them to almost every Major League ballpark in the US and Canada. They also enjoyed family trips to Wallowa Lake, Eagle Crest Resort, and the Oregon Coast with their kids and grandkids. He loved his grandchildren, and avidly supported their activities and sporting events until he experienced poor health over the past few years. Jerry was a member of Hillspring Church (Cathedral of Joy). He was a member of the finance committee, and the offering counting crew for many years. Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Opal Young, mother and stepfather Beryl and Harold Henderson, and brother-in-law Richard Corkrum.
