JOHN C. "PETE" COLEAN Pete Colean went to be with our Father in heaven on Oct. 3, 2016. He was born Sept. 15, 1943, in Walla Walla, Wash. to Ray and Dorothy Bowen. Pete was then adopted at 9 months-old by Guy and Margaret Colean and raised in Connell. He graduated from Connell High School In 1962, where his love of music started with his participating in the Drum & Bugle Corps. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following completion of his military service in 1966, Pete moved to the Tri-cities, where he joined the Local IBEW 112 and worked as an electrician for many local companies, including many sites out in the Hanford area. He then worked at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla as a plant manager. In his free time he coached Grid Kids football, Little League baseball and played music with a couple of different bands, including 13th Floor Elevator. He was most widely known for his band Colorado Gold. In 1996, he and his wife moved to Westport, Wash. When transferred from Walla Walla to serve as a plant manager and work on the construction of Stafford Creek Corrections Center. He became such a huge part of the Westport community. A licensed minister, he married many friends and family members. He also served as a Westport Fire District #3 commissioner, the town handyman, an Ocosta High School football coach and was a well known musician, entertaining at many local venues and events. For many years, he was the MC, served on the board and provided musical entertainment for Rusty Scupper's Pirate Days. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jlee Colean, and his six children; John Colean (Dori), Bobby Colean (Stacy), Craig Colean (Kim), Joelle Jordan (Mark), Mindy Olivera (Jesus), Tammy Gilman (Adam) and 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Sisters; Janet Leibold, Esther Miller. Brother; Mel Bowen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Margaret Colean, his brother Red Bowen his son James Colean and granddaughter Melissa Colean. Pete was loved by everyone he met. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. at The Living room church located at 1409 S. Garfield St. Kennewick.
