JONATHAN YOUNG Obituary

JONATHAN YOUNG

Jonathan Young, 67, passed away May 13 in Seattle.

Jon lived in the Seattle area and commuted to Richland for over 20 years. He enjoyed his work immensely and was a nationally recognized expert in probabilistic safety and risk assessments working with clients from the DOE and the Hanford site, NASA Space Center, NRC, Homeland Security, and many private industries. Until his retirement as referee in 2006, Jon's passion was officiating soccer from high school up to professional.

He was especially fond of the many friends he made on and off the soccer field. Jon's free time was spent enjoying life, fine food, friends, soccer, and sailing in Puget Sound.

A celebration of Jon's life will be held Sunday, May 23, 1 to 4 p.m. at the Richland Community Center.

I had just gotten back in touch with Jonathan this spring, and was hopeful of seeing him at our HS reunion in August. At least I had a wonderful chat with him then, and found out what a good life he had had. My condolences to his family, who surely hoped (with all his classmates) that he had a few years left.

Jonathan was a wonderful classmate of the class of 1960 at Kennett High School and was looking forward to his attending our 50th reunion. I'm so happy that he had such a full and exciting life doing what he loved to do, Soccer was a big part of high school life at Kennett and how wonderful that he went on to referee. May god bless
those he loved and those who loved him he will surely be missed.
