LESTER WHITLEY Lester Whitley passed away on January 5, 2017 peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Lester, known to most as Whit, was born in Missouri on July 1, 1931. He graduated from North High high school in Denver Colorado. Following graduation he joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. He lived in Coos Bay Oregon until moving to Tri-Cities where he made his home for 35 years. Whit worked in retail at Waremart (Winco) until his retirement in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lillian Whitley, their son Lester Whitey, Jr, his stepchildren Terry Schreiber, Sherry Meyers, Dave Meyers and Mike Meyers and his children Frank Whitley, Deborah Larson and Leslie Smith as well as 18 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren. Whit loved to watch his children and grandchildren do what they love: baseball, softball, cheer, hockey, and bowling. He coached numerous teams and was a scout leader. He loved to work in his yard, bowl, ballroom dancing, amusement parks and enjoyed spending time playing Yahtzee (well, any game really) with this loving family.
