MARTIN "MARTY" GUSTAF COFFMAN Martin "Marty" Gustaf Coffman, 63, passed away in Yakima, WA after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family on July 26, 2016. He was born in Seattle, WA on August 15, 1952 to Floyd Coffman and Helen Norberg Coffman. The Coffman family moved to Othello, WA in 1955 where Marty attended school and graduated from Othello High School in 1970 and then went to YVCC in Yakima. He played baseball, basketball and football in high school and softball and bowling as a young man. Sports were his passion and he loved watching his children play sports in high school, college and Team Hollywood Basketball. He enjoyed watching football (Seahawks) and baseball (Mariners) whenever possible. He also enjoyed camping with his family especially at Mt. Rainier and the ocean at Kalaloch. He was a trivia buff, (don't call him during Jeopardy) and liked crossword puzzles, westerns and old TV shows. He was a practical joker throughout his life, like when he ran over his sister with his bike and scaring people unexpectedly. Marty loved working on his family farm just outside of Othello and also worked at McCain Foods for over 25 years. He was a hard worker and Othello and its people held a special place in his heart. Marty had a kind heart and would do anything for anyone. He was a wonderful son, father, brother, uncle and grandfather and loved his family more than anything else. He was a dependable, kind and humble man. He loved kids very much and coached them in Little League, football and basketball. Marty was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Ken Boni. He is survived by his children, Shelbie Coffman, Jeffrey Coffman (Sulema) and Matthew Coffman (Hanna), grandchildren Seanna, TreAllan, Aspen and Raelyn, sisters Janet Widman (Mike), Connie Boni and Judy Melton, nieces and nephews Amy McCudden (Mikah), Jason Boni (Amy), Jami Principi (Philip), Joel Boni (Lourdes), Tanya Carney (Paul), an aunt and godmother Burmah Danielson, and numerous cousins and relatives. Services will be held on August 6, 2016 at Othello Presbyterian Church. Viewing is at 10:00 a.m., and the funeral service is at 12:00 noon, followed by a luncheon and then graveside service at the Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens. Marty always said if he had all the money in the world, it would go to help kids. Donations in his memory can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or via the website Special thanks from the family to Dr. Geiver and Memorial's North Star Lodge, Dr. Hofheins, Dr. Cundiff, Landmark, Cottage in the Meadow, Laurie Lyons-Stuckel and family and friends who gave their support.
