MARY A. PRAETORIUS Mary Antha Praetorius, 78, passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by family on March 21, 2017. Mary was born on January 30, 1939 to Lyle Milton and Nellie Antha Hulce in Murdo, SD and spent her childhood growing up in Vivian, SD. After high school graduation, Mary moved to Rapid City, SD where she later met a handsome chemist named Peter Praetorius. "It was love at first sight", said her little sister, Evie. Mary and Pete were married and spent 45 wonderful years together. The family moved to Richland, WA in 1966 after Pete accepted a position at Hanford. Mary had the privilege of staying home with their three children until their teenage years, when she went to work as a buyer at Rockwell, Hanford. She worked there until her retirement in her late fifties. Her family and friends will remember Mary as being full of life. She had a generous and loving heart and positively touched the lives of many. She was blessed with a huge number of amazing friends whom she enjoyed sharing and connecting with others. She enjoyed bridge, bunco and local sporting events, including those of her grandchildren's sports and program activities. Pete and Mary enjoyed traveling the world, as well as spending time at their summer cabin in Priest Lake, ID. Building the cabin and preserving a family tradition became something that the couple worked together on during their retirement. Priest Lake, ID has been a place of family gatherings for over 50 years. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, and eldest son, Mark, father, Lyle, mother, Antha, sister, Joyce, and brother, Howard. She is survived by her children, Shannon and Scott, daughter-in-law, Lynette, and five grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Josh, Tim and Angela, sister Evie (husband, Marvin), and brothers, Jim and Doug (wife, Doris). Our family is thankful for the care given at Kadlec Medical Clinic by, Dr. Katherine Cayetano and Dr. Kyawt Ayee.
