NILES MAYFIELD Einan's at Sunset Niles Mayfield of Spokane, WA unexpectedly passed away Monday, December 12, 2016. Niles was born in Richland, WA September 10, 1955 to Edwin and Myrna Jelacie. Niles, a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities, had moved to Spokane one year prior to his passing. Niles graduated in 1974 from Columbia High School (Richland), received his Bachelor of Education in 1978 from Eastern Washington University and a Masters of Education from Heritage College in Toppenish, WA. Niles taught Industrial Arts for three years at Carmichael Middle School in Richland and worked 30 years on the Hanford Site, retiring in 2012 as a Senior Training Manager. Niles participated in athletics throughout his life and coached, impacting many lives. An avid hydroplane enthusiast, Niles was a long time media director for the Columbia Cup Hydroplane Races and active in numerous national hydroplane events. Niles and the love of his life, his wife Penny, celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary the day before he passed away. Niles is survived by wife Penny, daughters Stephanie Becker (Larry) and her stepson Kyle, daughter Laura Ingersoll (Justin) and their children Carter and Emily, son Scott as well as his stepchildren Chris and Kelsey; mother Myrna, brother Larry (Debra), sisters Deborah and Diane (Ed) and numerous nieces and nephews. Niles was also close to his Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Bob, cousins Bob, Ken and Bill, and their families. We will all miss his larger than life presence deeply.
