RETHA LEE AVEY May 17, 1935 June 2, 2017 Retha Avey 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2017, at her home in Puyallup, Washington, in the presence of family. She was born Retha Lee Marchant on May 17, 1935, to "Jack" A.H. and Alsie (Mears) Marchant, in Flippin, Arkansas. Followed by 4 younger brothers. Retha lived most of her life in the mid-west until she and her family moved to Grandview, Washington in 1978. She had a passion for horses and made a career showing horses in the Chicago area and areas surrounding Indiana. After moving to the Northwest, Retha was a secretary at the Hanford Site before moving to the South Puget Sound where she spent the remainder of her life dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Retha will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death Lonnie and Lyn Marchant. She is survived by her children, Chris Avey, Lisa Avey and Mark Avey; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Also, survived by her brothers Lowell Marchant and Larry Marchant and many beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Retha's name at hospicefoundation.org.
