RICHARD ABSALOM SHOBE Richard Absalom Shobe (Ab), 89, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2017 at the Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick, Washington. Ab was born on March 24, 1928 in Colfax, WA to Thomas Hardin and Mabel Ethel Shobe. He was the oldest of two children. Ab was raised in Palouse, Washington and served in the United States Army at Hanford, Washington and Albequerque, New Mexico. He married his wife Barbara in Spokane, WA in 1950. They were married for 64 years at the time of her death in 2015. Ab worked for the City of Spokane as a construction foreman in the water division for most of his working years. Upon retirement, Ab and Barbara moved to Coolin, Idaho and then to Benton City, Washington to be near their family. Ab was preceded in death by his father Thomas Hardin Shobe, mother Mabel Shobe McWilliams, wife Barbara Shobe and son Daniel Shobe. Ab is survived by his brother Charles W. Shobe, daughter Cindy (John) Peters, son Mike (Connie) Shobe and grandsons Nicholas, Brian and Brandon Shobe. Special thanks to the Parkview Estates staff and Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice staff for caring for Ab in his final days. A private graveside service will be held at the later date.
