RICHARD "DICK" D. WIDRIG Einan's at Sunset Richard "Dick" D. Widrig was born February 5, 1930 in Seattle, he died peacefully in the arms of his wife, Shirley A. Widrig, on August 9, 2016 at Guardian Angel Home in Richland. His son Richard also was present. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, and their children Richard F. (wife Kim), Lynn E. (husband Mark), Christopher L. (wife Joyce) and Dana L., five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Dick graduated from Seattle's Franklin High School and earned a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Washington. In 1952, the couple moved to Richland and he began his career at General Electric, later Battelle Memorial Institute. He retired in 1991. He traveled extensively and consulted with the Departments of Defense, Energy and State on nuclear issues. Dick was an avid bridge player and played in many masters tournaments. He enjoyed active sports including tennis, golf, hunting, fishing and water and snow skiing. He also loved rock and snow mountain climbing and had over a dozen first ascents. Dick's funeral mass was at Christ the King and was attended by his family. Donations to Alzheimer's research appreciated.
