RICHARD NELSON Hillcrest Bruce Lee Memorial Center Dick passed away on May 19, 2016. He was born on July 23, 1945 to Vicia Ree & James Leland Nelson in Ellisville, MS and moved to Prosser, WA approximately six weeks later. He graduated from Prosser High in 1963 and was a member of the Washington National Guard from July, 1965 until receiving a medical discharge in April, 1970. A traumatic event in his life was the destruction of Prosser Bowl in July, 1969 that injured his friend Jerry Galliher. In March, 1973 he graduated from Eastern Washington State with a degree in Business Administration and then practiced as a Certified Public Accountant until he semiretired in 2009. He did continue to work part-time until shortly before his death. In his early years he was an avid bowler, enjoyed water skiing and pretending to be a golfer. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren, when possible, playing sports. He is survived by his wife Laurie (Gaskell) of 42 years, son David (Jennifer) of Newcastle, WA; daughter Leslie (Cedrick) of Tumwater, WA; his mother Vicia Ree; brothers Robert Terry (Marilynn) of Paradise, CA and Ken (Merry) of Renton, WA; five wonderful grandchildren, Jewell, Leilani, Avery, Trevor and Leah, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. There will be a memorial service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. He will be buried at the Tahoma National Cemetery at a later date.
