RITA RAE SCHMIDT 1935 2017 Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home Rita Schmidt, daughter of two local pioneer families, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 6, 2017, at home, at the age of 81. She was born on a farm in Kenne-wick on November 4, 1935. She graduated from Pasco High School in 1954, a few days after her wedding to Ira L. Schmidt, whom she met while working at the railroad. They just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They have five sons: Ira Jr. and wife Patty; Ken Schmidt and wife Lori; Dan Schmidt and wife Vickie; David Schmidt and Mike Schmidt. Rita also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita spent several years living in Sacramento but returned to Pasco after the death of her father in 1967 to look after her mother. She became active in the Democratic Party for a time. She also built up her own business "Rita's Pilot Car Service", which escorted oversized loads to their destination. During that time she was known on the CB Radio as "The Irish Rover" or "The Irish Setter". Rita you were loved and will be greatly missed. I'm sure if you could have said it, you would have thanked the Visiting Angels and the Hospice group for the good care during your last days on earth. There will be a memorial service held at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home 1608 W. Court St. in Pasco at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017. The family invites you to sign their on-line guest book at www.muellersfuneral homes.com.
