RUTH BENDEWALD GRIGGS Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home Ruth Bendewald Lucke Griggs, age 97, of Kennewick, Washington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 10, 2016 at the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House. She was born May 14, 1919 in Vananda, Montana to parents Daniel and Louise Bende-wald. She was the fifth of eleven children, most of whom were born on the farm, where they spent their years growing up. After graduating from Forsyth Montana High School she moved to Washington state where she met and married Herman A. Lucke. They lived in Walla Walla, Washington where their two children were born. They celebrated over 30 years of marriage living and working in the eastern Washington and Oregon area. After Herm's death, she married Beryl A. Griggs and became mother to three more adult children. Ruth was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards, bowling, and dancing, as well as traveling to many locations. She had a great love for music, and played the piano and organ. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She cherished the time spent nurturing all of her grand, great grand, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lucke, son William (Nancy) Lucke, stepchildren Allen (Carol) Griggs, Marilyn (Jack) Sullivan, Rich Brooks, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren, sisters Esther Nelson and Vera Williams and brother Ervin Bendewald. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park at 1401 S. Union St, Kennewick.
