TERRY KEISTER Terry Keister passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. Terry was born in Valley City, North Dakota, on May 22, 1950, to James and Vivian (Wilson) Keister. He had lived in Pasco since 1965. Terry enlisted in the United States Army on February 13, 1968, and was honorably discharged on February 12, 1971. He was a helicopter door gunner providing support cover for ground troops. Years later Terry was diagnosed with PTSD he struggled with this the rest of his life; even with his struggle he was proud of his service to his country. Terry received the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal and Aircraft Crewman Badge while serving in Vietnam. Terry had a unique personality; he was a little rough around the edges but had a kind soul, he was independent, a private person and brutally truthful at times. He had a soft spot for his family and was always available to family and friends who would call on him when they needed his assistance. Terry lived his life on his own terms; it didn't matter if people approved or disapproved of him as long as it didn't affect anyone else, he lived it like he wanted to live. Terry is survived by his daughters Brittney Schumacher (Nathan), Post Falls, ID, and Nicole Keister, Post Falls, ID; three grandchildren: Michaela, Evan and Keeley; his father James Keister, Moses Lake, WA; three sisters: Bonnie Anthis, Kennewick, WA, Pam Butler (Ted), Kennewick, WA, Jamie Stewart (Bill), Lakewood, WA; brother Rodney Keister (Elaine), Anaconda, MT; five nieces: Kristi Grigg (John), Kennewick, WA, Kassi Holmes (Tom), West Richland, WA, Shannan Butler (Matt), Pasco, WA, Heather Keister, Pasco, WA, Tracey Lanner (Danny), Lakewood, WA; four nephews: Sean Crary (Ernie), Stockton, CA, Travis Overlie (Helen), Menifee, CA, Jay Keister (Angie), Lakewood, WA, Jeff Keister (Marisa), Princeton, TX; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Vivian Keister and his best friend Pat Ray. There will be a celebration of life at the American Legion Post #34 at 1029 W Sylvester, Pasco on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm for family and friends. There will be a burial at Washington State Veteran's Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Rd. Medical Lake WA, at a later date.
